As old chronicles report, in 1683 turks surrounded the capital of Austria Vienna. An austrian emperor Leopold І was forced to yell the possessors of the nearby states for help. On an appeal answered many states. Numerous detachments of the Ukrainian cossacks which fought alongside with the troops of Polish king Jan III Sobeskyj were ripe. Among them there were two brothers-orphans elder of them among cossacks had a nickname of Chuch. Although a courage and bravery of every cossack was deservingly estimated by an austrian emperor , brothers Chuches were marked especially. For a courage an austrian emperor gave brothers an original noble title, by adding to their nickname typical German completion of “man”, and brothers-orphans from Chuches became Chuchmans. Polish king rewarded brothers also , presenting them a few fields from his lands , and handed a guard document pursuant to which not only brothers but also their descendants rid of serf duties. Brothers took these gifts not very gladly , because they did not want to change a sabre on a plough, but they were convinced by senior cossacks. Brothers were obedient and settled on presented lands nearby Bus’k in Galychyna. Soon on these lands grew two typically cossack farms, one of which began to call Chuchmany Zabolotnimy , and second — Chuchmany Gumnys'kamy (“ Chuchmany” in Ukrainian means “Chuchmans” ) .
